About UsThanks for your interest in considering our club for your railroad event. We wanted to give you as much information about us so that you can evaluate if we are able to help make your event a success. We encourage you to take a look at the rest of the website along with this information. The Colorado & Great Western Modular Railroad Club is non profit club located in Westminster, Colorado. The purpose of our club is to enjoy model railroading and share our hobby with the public. We are a dynamic group of modelers trying to raise the standard of modular railroading. Our goal is to become regionally and nationally recognized for our work. Our Brief HistoryThe Colorado & Great Western Modular Railroad Club started in 1997 by three HO scale model railroaders living in the Denver area. Those original members were interested in constructing modules with consistent scenery that could be interconnected to form either a small or large operating layouts for the pleasure of display and prototypical operation. They started in late 1997 building four corner modules as common club property in order to accommodate the various modules planned by the individual club members. The club continued to grow and draw new members interested in those same core values of modular railroading. Today the club has grow to include 25 active members. In a typical year we attend four to six events in the Rock Mountain Region. A year and half ago we secured a permanent workspace inside Westminster Mall where we can setup a small display and work on and construct new modules for the club. For more information on the space in the mall and our display hours consult the club schedule in the left sidebar

Our Layout Our layout features two mainlines which give us the ability to run up to four trains continuously. We have a little of everything for the visitor to the layout. Along with the high-level of detail and animation on our modules we feel it will draws a lot of interest for visitors to your event We also conduct train operations sessions modules to mimic the real life prototypes. In some configurations we can utilize a full-functioning hump yard to classify trains for operating sessions We can display our layout in various size configurations. Our smallest configuration is 20'x24' and our largest 48'x 50'. click here to see several sample layout configurations we've used at past shows.
What We Need To Know There are a host of factors we used as a club to evaluate if we can attend a train show event. The main criteria we consider in our decision are: - The Length of the Event We prefer minimum a two day weekend events and generally will not attend single or half day events simple because the level of effort transport and setup the layout does not make the show an effective use of our time. Typically our layout takes up to 5 hours to setup for our full 48' x 50' configuration. Considering the time needed to setup we prefer the day before a show and similar time to tear down at the completion of the show.
- Electrical Needs We require an electrical connections for the operation of the layout at the event facility in close proximity to our location on the show floor
- Tables and Chairs We require a 6-8 tables and 15-20 chairs at the event facility for members of the train club to sit and stage our model collections to run on the layout
- Security for the event facility The club requires information on the security that will be provided during non-show hours in the event facility. Like any hobby or collectible we have invested thousands of dollars into our layout and would like ensure its safety when the event is closed between show hours
- Parking and Trailer Storage The club requires information on parking and storage of our club trailer. Also any information security of the parking area.
- Admission Information to the Event Information on admission to the event for members, friends and family who will be in attendance. Also any information on parking would be helpful.
- Area Information Any suggestions on dining, hotel accommodations in the area as well as any discounts associated with the event is also appreciated.
